A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday, June 10 to celebrate construction of Leatherdale Hall, a $ 4.75 million dollar addition to The University of Winnipeg’s Wesley Hall and the Collegiate high school on campus. UWCRC is serving as the developer of this project on behalf of the University. The majority of the project funding has been confirmed including a $2.5M gift from the Leatherdale family, $250,000 in corporate grants, $500,000 from deferred maintenance funds and the remaining $1.5M being raised through a UWinnipeg Foundation fund-raising campaign led by Jim Richardson and Jim MacDonald.
The project is designed to improve the accessibility of Wesley Hall and the functionality of Convocation Hall including enhanced opportunities for dialogue and knowledge mobilization in a contiguous space to be named Leatherdale Hall. The project is also intended to re-establish Tony’s Canteen, and provide much needed gathering space for the Collegiate.
